A few years later, Nolan returned to the Philippines and while on a boat trip to Mindanao, God spoke to his heart about starting an orphanage. Nolan knew that this was what he was called to do. Upon his return to the States, Nolan and his wife, Julia began taking steps to make the orphanages a reality. Approximately three months later, the first New Life Children’s Home was opened in the Philippines on the island of Negros in Dumaguete City. It began with 2 children and two house parents and had an operating budget of $300 per month. In the early years, Nolan and Julia subsidized the entire operation themselves, but as word spread, people wanted to get involved. Two and a half years later they chose to incorporate so that people could receive a tax deduction for their donations. Now 20 years later, New Life Children’s Home is continuing to grow and prosper. What began as one man’s desire to make a difference is now changing the lives of 100's of children in two nations. God has blessed us! |
